Oh Canada, I love you! xox
This Confederation Day, July 1, 1867, Canadians really have something special to celebrate, because Canada ranks #1 in the world for personal rights and freedoms. It is also #8 for prosperity. I was proud to learn that 92% of Canadians say that they are tolerant of ethnic minorities. When you leave home to live abroad you realize how truly blessed you are to have been born in a wonderful country like Canada.
On the other hand, John and I have been having an amazing experience living in the Netherlands this year. We've met some great people and played some memorable gigs. It's been fascinating to live in this progressive society (one of the world's first democracies). Canada and the Netherlands both share the traits of tolerance and open-mindedness. We've often found Dutch people kind-hearted and helpful. It's not surprising to learn there are many Dutch-Canadian connections (such as the liberation of Holland by Canadian and Allied forces in 1945, which is still well-remembered here today).
Our latest news about the next CD release is that we've decided to go the extra mile. We’ll be adding more songs to the album, and unfortunately the release date will be pushed back a little bit longer, but I’m happy to let you know that what we had intended to be an EP is going to be a full ALBUM! We're looking forward to finishing up later this year. We'll be back working in Montreal in a studio with great sound and a creative atmosphere, and then following that up with a Canadian release event. So, in short, this blog is also our way of saying that, although we enjoy roaming the world, we are coming home.
Enjoy the summer season!
